Our Story

Hi! I am Nydia, a passionate cake designer who loves turning sugar into edible art.

Cakes & Treats by Me began in 2017, when I decided to personally design and plan my husband’s 50th birthday celebration. While organizing every detail of the event, I reached one of the most important elements: the cake. I decided to take on the challenge myself and create the cake on my own.

After multiple attempts, experimenting with recipes, ingredients, and techniques, I finally developed the perfect cake recipe. With very little formal knowledge in pastry at the time, I designed and created the most important cake for my husband’s milestone birthday—achieving a result that was not only delicious, but also elegant and perfectly suited for the occasion.

I started by taking basic online pastry courses, then continued educating myself further and further, discovering and learning from renowned cake artists who inspired me to keep growing. I chose to specialize not only in traditional cakes, but also in modern and unique cake design trends, allowing me to elevate my work to a haute couture level.

Through advanced masterclasses, I specialized in a wide range of high-end cake design techniques, including handcrafted sugar paste flowers, wafer paper art, fondant and chocolate work, stencil techniques, custom mold creation, hand-sculpted elements, three-dimensional cake structures, painting on fondant, innovative gelatin-based techniques, and refined isomalt work—allowing me to create truly unique, couture-level cake designs.

Throughout this journey, I earned certifications and trained with internationally recognized cake artists, whom I deeply admire and thank, including KekCouture, Ekaterina (Ekats Academy), The Late Minette Rushing (Minette Rushing Cakes), Javier Azocar (Luma’s Cake), Angela Morrison (Cakes by Angela Morrison), Beata Tomasiewicz (Petite Pivoine Cakes), Natasha Guadarrama (CoolTiare), By Aletoso, Lucia IM, Pamela Pastor, and many more.

Who we are

We are a husband-and-wife baking team, designing and creating the finest bakery treats from our home. From elegant wedding cakes to delicate sweets and desserts, our mission is to help make your events and celebrations a beautiful, unique, and unforgettable experience.

Based in Richmond Hill, Georgia, we proudly serve couples and clients throughout the surrounding areas. Our work is recognized for its refined, tailored aesthetic, where every detail is thoughtfully designed and carefully executed.

A True Family Business

Due to the growing demand, my husband began assisting me by creating the internal cake structures. In the process, he discovered a true passion for the art of pastry. This led him to formally enroll in a pastry school, where he successfully became a certified pastry chef.

Not stopping there, he later pursued further education and certification in chocolate artistry, achieving excellent results and receiving outstanding feedback from his mentors. Together, we also trained in royal icing cookie design, an area he especially fell in love with.

Today, he contributes not only through chocolate creations, but also by designing and crafting beautiful custom cookies for all types of occasions.
